So a short while ago in march I began talks on the purchase of Another locomotive, This one was Riogen From the Woodhorn Narrow Gauge Railway in Ashington Northumberland, after some deliberation the sale of the locomotive was completed and i put the engine on semi permanant loan to the railway, it has been repainted in a nice satin black and had new nameplates and lettering applied, as well as a very smart Hunslet Makers plate,

Pit pony was decided as her name as she is the railways workhorse and she will be used on the P-Way trains as we relay the line, now she’s a little on the heavy side for me to be transporting her around but if anyone would like her to visit your railway we could certainly work something out,

she was built in 1994 by hunslet on license by jenbach a company in Austria that make some fantastic engines, she’s a diesel hydraulic and was made for a tunneling contract in Singapore, this tunnel never came to being so she never turned a wheel in anger, she was sold to the WNGR in 2013 where she was put to use, and has been a reliable loco untill the line closed down in 2019.

she is now in my ownership and is the most reliable locomotive in my fleet, No 2 being a mobility scooter converted to a locomotive durin lockdown for something for me to attepmpt to keep me out of trouble, isnt the most reliable loco, but she is reliable enough to shunt around my yard and assist in moving wagons of tools about,

No.1 “Rosie” Was my first locomotive and this was quite the restoration project, she was found in broadwood Quarry in weardale as a scrap chassis sat in a pond, I fell in love with her and went straight to the office of the quarry and offered to purchase it, they said yes and so began a project that cost a heck of a lot of money and a relationship but the less said about that the better, “Rosie” is now back in industrial use down a flouspar mine in Weardale and is no longer in my ownership.

i will in a later post do a full rundown of my railway fleet as it is getting a little bit extensive
